David received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Arkansas, and was a faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania before moving to Connecticut to establish the Anxiety Disorders Center at The Institute of Living. The author of over 200 peer-reviewed scientific journal articles and several books, David’s research is funded by the National Institutes of Health and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. He has been given the award for distinguished contribution to the science of psychology, the award for distinguished contribution to the practice of psychology, and the award for lifetime contribution to psychology from the Connecticut Psychological Association. He has served as president of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and the Clinical Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association. David regularly provides community workshops to disseminate information about mental health conditions and mental health treatment.
