Kent has led physician organizations both inside and out of major healthcare systems for 30 years, as well as organizing and providing primary care and occupational medicine services across the State of Connecticut. Much of his career was at Hartford Healthcare (HHC) in senior administrative positions. As a vice president of HHC, he served as a key physician executive in Integrated Care Partners, the 2000-member clinical integration organization of Hartford HealthCare founded in 2014. Prior to that, Kent was the founding CEO of Hartford HealthCare Medical Group (HHCMG), now one of the largest practices in the state. Before that he led Hartford Medical Group (HMG, which was a component of HHCMG), and was one of the founders of Immediate Medical Care Center, Inc., which later became HMG. Kent served as consulting medical director for many Connecticut employers, including the Hartford Courant, Goodrich Pumps & Engine Control Systems, Wiremold, Jacob Vehicle Systems among others.
Kent earned a Bachelor of Science in life sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, obtained his M.D. at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, and completed his post-graduate training in internal medicine at Hartford Hospital. He is an assistant clinical professor at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and is certified as a Diplomate with the American Board of Internal Medicine.
